We are very pleased that  Dr. Prasad  is joining our medical team at Biggera Waters Family Practice since early 2015. He is working closely with Prof. Rohan Jayasinghe  to see patients who are suffering from cardivascular disease.

Dr. Gunaruwan graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1996. He started cardiology training in the United Kingdom and completed a Ph.D in cardiovascular research in Birmingham 2006. Dr Gunaruwan moved to John Hunter Hospital Newcastle NSW to complete the cardiology training and has been practicing at the Gold Coast University Hospital since 2014.

Dr Gunaruwan is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and a fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dr Gunaruwan has published widely in many reputed journals and continues to be active in cardiovascular research at Gold Coast University Hospital and Griffith University.

Dr. Prasad offers a full range general cardiology consultancy services including coronary disease management, arrhythmia management, heart failure and inherited heart disease management, stress testing and stress echocardiography, echocardiography and trans-esophageal echocardiography, Holter monitoring and CT coronary angiography.

He is very kind to consult patients as bulk billing without any out of pocket expenses for them! Patients need to have a valid Medicare Card as well as a referral letter from their own general practitioner to see him. He is working as a full time consultant cardiologist at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH). He is happy to consult patients on Saturdays from 08:30 till 14:00.
